On location this week: Poole, Lewes and London

Our week in Pictures - Mindset Communications - Events and Video Producers London & Surrey

Monday:

Had a great day delivering training to 53 postgrad students on the CIM accredited live events training course for Ashdown Academy called “Eventcourse”.

It’s a little passion of ours having worked so hard in the Live Events industry over the years and then being able to give something back, helping those coming into the industry get a foot-hold so to speak. On Monday we delivered training in technical production. They arranged for us to give the training at ExCel and we got an hour-long guided tour of probably one of the best exhibition centres in the world. During the tour we were lucky enough to see some inflatable domes going up which we’ve always wanted to see. They are great for live events but we’ve never been able to work them into a live job. We can now say with some authority that they really do have an amazing WOW factor, especially thanks to the fact that they take lighting really nicely.

We even managed to get to see the poppies at the Tower of London on the way home and saw Boris Johnson’s hands, believe it or not!

Tuesday:

Tuesday saw us continuing the training with the Eventcourse at Egg London, a brilliant nightclub. We were teaching “The Power of Video” in the live events industry and how video is probably the 2nd most important element now after the event itself, certainly from a marketing perspective. The students filmed their own vox pop videos so it was a really hands-on day.

Wednesday:

On Wednesday we were filming at ODC Trading at their incredible manufacturing facility down in Poole where they make their ultra top-quality door systems. It was a real eye-opener seeing the state-of-the-art CNC computer precision cutting machines… like something out of the movie Terminator! The ODC team really looked after us down there and really got into the filming with us. A big shout out to all of them. Hope we didn’t get in the way too much.

Thursday:

And yesterday, back with Ashdown Academy filming some green screen footage for a new product they have coming up in 2015, working down in Lewes. Always nice being down there. Lovely town.

Day in the office today catching up on the past week but the phone is going mad with new work coming in. Whoever said the economy is on the mend was certainly right!!!!!!!!!!
